How To Make Them

  1. Cook the rice: Get the rice cooking first since it will take the longest. Cook according to package instructions – I always use a rice cooker on the “white rice” setting.
  2. Steam the broccoli: Add broccoli to a saucepan with about 1/2 inch of water. Cover and cook on medium high heat for 3-4 minutes, until fork tender and bright green.
  3. Make the sauce: Before cooking the chicken, make the sauce so it’s ready to go. Mix soy sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, rice vinegar, sriracha, and corn starch in a jar or container until combined.
  4. Cook the chicken: Heat a frying pan on medium high, lightly spray with oil and add the chicken. Begin cooking chicken, breaking apart into small pieces (I use a meat chopper). About halfway through cooking, add whites of the green onion and season with salt and pepper. Continue cooking until chicken is fully cooked.
  5. Add sauce & assemble: Pour sauce over the chicken and cook another 30-60 seconds, until sauce thickens. Turn off heat, drizzle with sesame oil, sprinkle with tops of green onion and sesame seeds, and mix. Assemble each bowl with 1/4 of the rice, broccoli, and sesame chicken. Top with more green onion and sesame seeds and enjoy!
