Easy Smash Burger Tacos
These easy smash burger tacos have been all over social media, and for good reason. They’re so quick to make and insanely delicious.

I had to see what all the hype was about and WOW these did not disappoint. A must try!
What You’ll Need
Equipment
- Large frying pan
- Burger press: Optional
Ingredients
- 93/7 lean ground beef
- Street taco flour tortillas: Using these La banderita ones.
- Salt and pepper: Or seasoning of choice (I love Kinder’s all purpose seasoning).
- Sargento ultra thin cheese slices: Or cheese of choice.
- Tomato, lettuce, pickles: For topping.
- Light burger sauce: Keep these a little lighter but still so delicious.

How To Make Them
- Prep ingredients: Divide the beef into 12 equal pieces for each taco (each will be ~37 g) and roll into balls. Make sure you’ve got your tortillas, seasoning and cheese ready to go, as this process will be quick.
- Cook: Heat frying pan on high heat. Once hot, add the meat balls (I can usually fit 3 on my pan), place a tortilla on top of each and smash as flat as you can with a burger press or spatula. Cook 2-3 min, until browned and edges have crisped up, then flip. Reduce heat to low, then add seasonings and cheese, covering with a lid to melt.
- Decorate: Once cheese is melted and bottom of tortillas are golden brown, remove from pan. Add lettuce, tomato, pickles, burger sauce and enjoy!
Tips
- Measuring the beef: Optional, but I use a kitchen scale to weigh the beef pieces so each taco gets the same amount.
- Press well: I press the beef down really thin, and even a couple more times as it cooks since it will shrink.

Easy and versatile as some of my family turned into a bbq, or cheeseburger taco!
Hi Mali,
Glad you were able to customize as needed! โก
Okay, these were amazing! We have made them 4 times since we found the recipe not even a month ago! We did add seasoning into the beef, like we do for burgers. But that was the only change we made!
Hey Kristy,
Thrilled to hear this! โก Thanks for sharing, have a great day!
I want to try these but have a question. I am assuming that you have to keep turning the heat up and down for every set of burgers? Could you use two skillets? One on low and one on high?
Hi Shelly,
Yes, you could do that! I usually just turn the heat back up between sets and it reheats quickly, but using two skillets would make the process even easier.
