Hot honey ground turkey bowls with avocado, sweet potato, greek yogurt and feta cheese.

After trying the viral hot honey ground beef bowls, I got a comment saying I needed to try this combo next and WOW I’m so glad I did. This is my new favorite variation and one that I make on repeat. Here’s everything you need and how to make them!

What You’ll Need

Equipment
Ingredients
  • Sweet potatoes
  • 99/1 lean ground turkey
  • Tomato paste
  • Taco seasoning: I make my own.
  • Avocados
  • Non fat plain greek yogurt
  • Feta
  • Hot honey: I like Zab’s or Mike’s.
  • Salt, pepper, cinnamon: To season.

How To Make Them

  1. Preheat oven and prep pan: Preheat oven to 425F and line a half baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Bake sweet potatoes: Peel and wash the potatoes, then cut into ~1/4″ cubes. Add to the baking sheet, lightly spray with oil and season with salt, pepper, and a little cinnamon. Bake for 30 minutes, flipping and seasoning again halfway.
  3. Cook the turkey: Meanwhile, cook the ground turkey in a pan on medium high, breaking apart into small pieces (I use a meat chopper), until fully cooked (~5 min). Add tomato paste, taco seasoning and a splash of water (to help evenly distribute) and cook for just 1-2 more minutes, stirring to combine. Remove from heat.
  4. Build your bowl: Add sweet potatoes, turkey, yogurt, feta, and fresh avocado to your bowl and finish with a drizzle of hot honey. Enjoy!

Tips

  • Sweet potatoes: Prepping the potatoes takes the longest by far. If you’re short on time, make it even easier by grabbing pre-cut sweet potatoes. Just season and toss into the oven!
  • Avocado: If your avocados are slightly soft to the touch and the stems come off easily, they’re probably ready to use! To avoid wasting avocados, I toss them in the fridge when I notice they are ripe.
  • Customize: I often add lettuce, tomato, pickled onions, and other toppings to my bowl for even more volume.

Favorite Bowls

To Store

Store leftovers separately in airtight containers in the fridge up to 4 days. Reheat the turkey and sweet potatoes before adding the rest!

My family and I have had this recipe 3 weeks in a row, my husband said we should just have it every Monday haha I like to blend the cottage cheese so the texture isn’t chunky but LOVE it!

Highly recommend. Making these again for the second time tonight for dinner. Quick, easy, healthy meal.

I like each ingredient separately, but this was a miss for me. I’m not on board with all these flavors all together. My husband likes lots of *interesting* flavor combos, but neither of us loved this. Personal preference! I’d opt to remove the cinnamon, do fiesta blend cheese instead of feta, and salsa instead of honey. If you like the sweetness of the honey, maybe do a mango salsa.

    1. Hi Whitney,
Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate the suggestion to adjust the flavor profile – the mango salsa sounds tasty! I’m sorry this one didn’t work out for you and hope you find a balance you enjoy next time. ♡

I love the beef version one. I was a bit skeptical at first. But now sometimes my body just craves this. It hits all the right spots. Thank you.
