Ninja Creami Birthday Cake Protein Ice Cream
This Ninja Creami birthday cake protein ice cream recipe has been my recent craving. The star of the show? Confetti cupcake Pop Tarts. Yep.

This recipe is almost identical to my vanilla base creami recipe. With just a few tweaks, we make the most delicious birthday cake flavored protein ice cream.
That really is the beautiful thing about my vanilla base recipe. You can change a couple small things, and come up with an endless amount of flavors.
What You’ll Need
- 2% Lowfat cottage cheese: I love the Daisy brand.
- Unsweetened almond milk: Any unsweetened nut milk will work here. Look for one that has 25-30 calories per serving. Cashew milk is another great one.
- Protein powder: I use the Gold Standard Whey protein in the vanilla ice cream flavor. It’s affordable and tastes great. I’ve heard that Clean Simple Eats protein powder is amazing as well if you want to check them out!
- Sugar Free Jell-O white chocolate pudding mix: There is a vanilla flavor in these which you can absolutely use if you’d like, but I like the white chocolate one best.
- Cake batter flavor: I use the McCormick cake batter flavor. Just 1/2 tsp does the trick!
- Salt: A tiny pinch goes a long way.
- Sweetener (optional): I like to add 1/2 tsp of Truvia to my Creami recipes, just to make them a tiny bit sweeter. You can add 1/2-1 tsp of whatever sweetener you like, or none, depending on your preferences.
How Long to Freeze
You should freeze your Ninja Creami birthday cake protein ice cream for at least 8 hours before spinning. I like to make mine at night before I go to bed, that way I can have it whenever I want the next day. But I’ve also made it first thing in the morning and had it after dinner that same night! No big deal.
How Many Spins
If you’ve made a Ninja Creami before, you’ll know that it turns out a bit crumbly after the first spin. This is normal. You just need to add 1 tablespoon of water (or milk) and re-spin one time.
After our re-spin, we will be running this one on the “mix-in” function. This just helps distribute our toppings more evenly throughout the ice cream so you can get a bit in every bite!
So, 3 spins total (1 initial spin, 1 re-spin with 1 tbsp water, and 1 mix-in). Easy peasy.
Mix-Ins
What makes this Ninja Creami birthday cake protein ice cream incredible is our mix-in. I’m not sure if you’ve ever had a confetti cupcake pop tart before, but they are DANGEROUS. So delicious. They do have that artificial cupcakey taste, so steer clear of them if you’re not into that. Me, personally? I’m into it.
Just a single pop tart is all you need. I like to put about 3/4 of it in to mix, and crumble the other 1/4 on top.
This whole thing is 265 calories with 38 g of protein, WITHOUT the pop tart. I’ve calculated the macros without the pop tart just in case you can’t find them, don’t like them, or just prefer something else. This way, you can track any toppings you choose.
Other mix-ins that would be yummy with this birthday cake protein ice cream:
- Birthday cake flavored Oreos
- Quest frosted protein cookies (birthday cake flavor)
- Chips Ahoy chewy confetti cake
- Heavenly hunks (birthday cake flavor)
- Mini nilla wafers
- Sugar cookie dough + funfetti sprinkles
