Chicken burger on a white bun with sauce, pickles, tomato, red onion and lettuce.

These burgers are made with cooked onion + spices to boost flavor. Cooked right in the same pan used for the burgers so you don’t have to get another dish dirty. Serve them up with some light burger sauce and air fried french fries for a delicious healthy meal!

What You’ll Need

Ingredients
  • White onion
  • Garlic
  • Paprika
  • Cumin
  • Lean ground chicken: I use 96/4.
  • Salt + pepper
  • Cinnamon: Optional.
  • Non fat plain greek yogurt

How To Make Them

  1. Cook the onion: Set a large pan on medium high heat and lightly spray with oil. Add chopped onions, garlic, paprika and cumin and cook 3 minutes, until soft and fragrant. Remove from heat.
  2. Make the burger mixture: Add ground chicken, cooked onions, salt, pepper, cinnamon and yogurt to a bowl and mix until combined. Separate into 4 equal patties.
  3. Cook: Set the same pan on medium high heat and cook patties 3-5 minutes per side (165F internal temp). Remove from pan and let rest another 3-5 minutes.
  4. Enjoy: Serve chicken burgers on a toasted bun with sauce, pickles, tomato, onion and lettuce.

Tips

  • Onions: Chop onions very small so that the burgers stay together better.
  • Forming the patties: I use these food prep gloves to form the patties to keep my hands and nails clean from raw chicken.
  • Make ahead: Make the patties ahead and set in the fridge or freezer to make them easier to work with when it comes time to cook.
  • Serve with: These burgers are delicious with this light burger sauce and air fried french fries.
