The Best Ninja Creami Vanilla Base

Jump to Recipe

This is truly the best Ninja Creami vanilla base recipe I’ve tried.

For those of you who don’t know, the Ninja Creami is a device that makes ice cream. It’s gone viral because of the high protein/low calorie recipes you can make with it. Not to be dramatic, but it is life-changing.

It took me a couple minutes to set up my picture for this post, so it looks more melty than it actually is. Scroll down to watch the video on how to make it and you’ll see just how thick and creamy it turns out. It’s so freaking good.

The Secret Ingredient

The secret ingredient is…*drum roll*…COTTAGE CHEESE.

I can practically hear the booing haha. But hear me out!

I saw this trick first from I Heart Macros on Insta and was super skeptical. But she swore it made her Ninja Creami recipes amazing. I tried it out one time and have been make it this way ever since. I promise it does NOT taste like cottage cheese and does NOT have any weird texture issues. You just have to make sure that the cottage cheese is blended with the almond milk so it’s super smooth.

I don’t have any fancy hand-held blenders, so I just use my Vitamix. You can use whatever blender or food processor you have on hand.

Everything You’ll Need

  • 2% Lowfat cottage cheese: I love the Daisy brand.
  • Unsweetened almond milk: Any unsweetened nut milk will work here. Look for one that has 25-30 calories per serving. Cashew milk is also great.
  • Protein powder: I use the Gold Standard Whey protein in the vanilla ice cream flavor. It’s affordable and tastes great. I’ve heard that Clean Simple Eats protein powder is amazing as well if you want to check them out!
  • Sugar Free Jell-O white chocolate pudding mix: There is a vanilla flavor too, but I like the white chocolate one best.
  • Vanilla extract: I use the Baker’s Imitation vanilla. Sub whatever vanilla you’ve got!
  • Salt: A tiny pinch.
  • Sweetener: I like to add 1/2-1 tsp of Truvia to my Creami recipes to make them a bit sweeter. You can use whatever sweetener you like, or none, depending on your preferences.

How Long to Freeze

Freeze for at least 8 hours before spinning. I like to make mine at night before I go to bed, that way I can have it whenever I want the next day. But I’ve also made it first thing in the morning and had it after dinner that same night!

How Many Spins

If you’ve made a Ninja Creami before, you’ll know that it turns out a bit crumbly after the first spin. This is normal. You just need to add 1 tablespoon of water and re-spin one time.

So, 2 spins total (1 initial spin, and 1 re-spin after you add 1 tablespoon of water).

Mix-Ins

The possibilities are endless with this Ninja Creami Vanilla base. You can do so many different combos! Here are some of my faves:

  • Cookies and Cream
  • Cookie Dough
  • Mixed Berry
  • Chips Ahoy

And this whole thing is only 265 calories with 38 g of protein, leaving plenty of room for delicious toppings and customizations ;)

Let Me Know if you Try!

I know not everybody has a Ninja Creami, but if you do, you have to let me know if you try this out! Maybe I am just crazy, but I always go back to this recipe. It’s so dang good.

What an excellent recipe. I’m looking to add some low carb higher protein desserts into a pre diabetic diet.
